Welcome to Thrifty Home
This blog is dedicated to sharing tips and ideas to improve your home without spending a fortune. I am a 30 year old stay-at-home mom who has been blessed with being married to a very handy man who is capable of doing all sorts of improvements around the house in fact I tell him to stop showing his talents if he ever wants me to stop adding new projects to his list which does give us an advantage in keeping the costs down, but a lot of improvements can be done by you if you just put in a little hard work. Through our hard work we have been able to take our 1946 home that we bought 4 1/2 years ago and more then double the appraised value of it while spending under $15,000. With this money we have added a 750 square foot patio, a 400 square foot shed and attached carport and raised the roof to increase the square footage of the upstairs as well as take out a wall to open up the floor plan, do some tiling and hardwood floors and lots of painting. Of course without having a contractor for a husband there would definitely be added cost for raising the roof and removing walls as those are definitely not projects to undertake without knowing about the structure of your home, but there are ways to save money even while having the experts do those projects. So stay tune and I will share our stories and give some tips on how to do some projects yourself….if I can do them then anyone can.
